Overcoming Limitations with Legacy Oracle 11G Database

Client Overview

Our client is a popular money transfer and transaction management platform. They specialize in secure and quick money transactions. Their USP is in offering secure payment options to both individuals and businesses globally. With headquarters based in United Kingdom, our client has also expanded to North America, Europe, Asia and Middle East.

Since they were globally spread and dealt with huge transactions, we let them hire data engineers capable of supporting their long term goals. We built them a secure solution that was compliant with financial regulations and was also secure for their global users.

Challenge

Our client had a legacy Oracle 11G database which made it difficult to handle large information. They complained to us query delay due to large data volumes, limited scalability, small processing capability, and bad data management. Their existing tool also lacks live report and alert system which made it difficult for them to take quick business decisions.

Our Solution

Because of these challenges, our big data engineers built a modern data architecture for them. We started by migrating from Oracle 11G to a high-performing SQL-based database. This was done to improve speed, and scalability of their operations. Then we hosted their database on AWS for more security and flexibility. Apart from this we also built a central data lake on Amazon S3. For real-time reporting, we implemented Qlik Sense.

Business Outcome

Our solution implementation worked wonders for this client. Over the coming weeks we noticed a 50% jump in transaction processing. Cloud-based architecture also made the whole process more cost-efficient. And they definitely improved their decision-making process after the implementation of Qlik Sense. Overall, we helped them overcome all limitations with their legacy architecture.
